The Devon County Chess Association (DCCA) Annual General Meeting will take place at 7pm on Friday, 11th September 2026, at Oxygen House in Exeter Business Park (EX1 3LH).
All members and club representatives are invited to attend to review the past season, discuss upcoming initiatives, and shape the future of chess across the county.

The DCCA team event for the Peter Rooke Cup was held at Newton Abbot Chess Club on Saturday 20th June 2026. This is the last of the season's DCCA team events and was contested by four teams: Newton Abbot, Seaton, Teignmouth and Barnstaple. Paul Hampton provides a report of the event. Seaton's Jonathan Underwood has been crowned this season's Champion of Champions to win the prestigious Winter Wood Shield! This is a yearly knockout event that provides an opportunity for all the Devon Club Champions to battle out to claim this best in Devon title – Well done Jon!

We are happy to report that a new chess group had started meeting at a small cafe next to Paignton Harbour. This is a friendly, relaxed weekly meet-up for anyone who enjoys a game of chess (or wants to learn).
